Lori takes a nursing job that gives her the flexibility to also care for her dying sister. Not taking any flack from the grumpy old woman, Lori sets out to show Gloria that the only person she is hurting with her cruelity is herself. Having pushed her family away for so many years, changing is difficult.
Reid is he man who hired Lori, and Gloria's grandson. A flighty ex-baseball pitcher lacking in self-control and responsibilty, he sleeps with any woman that asks. Not wanting to deal with the day-to-day notority of being a celebrity, he left everything to a lazy manager to deal with. Finding himself on the end of some bitter gossip, his life in the microscope, he realises her needs to be responsible for his life.
Reid sets up a foundation to help kids in sports, and tries to get help for Lori's sister. Lori makes him want to be a better man.
