Emma is dying. Her father, Carlyle, is desperately trying to be a better father and the thing she wants most is a mother. Arranging a marriage with Briony, the new assistant that has won Emma's love, seems to solve a part of his problems.
Briony, her heart breaking at the coming up loss of another child, finds herself loving not only Emma, but Carlyle as well.
A really thought provoking story. Sweet.
