Ariella has always been a bit of an eccentric. Highly intelligent, with a vast thirst for knowledge, she has never desired a man. Indulged by her father, she has enjoyed the freedom to pursue her interests, even when he hoped she would one day find the true love of her life. Coming uopn the Romany gypsys camping on her father's fields, she is finally awakened to the passionate side of her nature by Emilian.
Emilian is half Roma and half English, and does not seem to fit in to either place. Subject to a lifetime of prejudice and bigotry, he wishes to leave behind his English heritage and embrace the life of the Gypsy. Being faced wih Ariella, a princess in his mind deserving of a full blooded man, he fights the attraction and friendship she offers, to no avail.
Two very dynamic individuals that are both faced with distinct persecutions of the era. Very enjoyable to read.
