Anita Blake gets a gift from Las Vegas she does not want. She has to fly there, which she hates, and confront a vampire serial killer, Vittorio. Leaving in the middle of the day, she is unable to let Jean-Claude know.
In Las Vegas, she is teamed back up with Edward, Olaf, and Bernardo as they try to work with the local cops to help solver the grisly murders of their own men.
As Anita works thru the twists and turns of the murders, she has to also deal with the internal changes surrounding hersalf and the tigers, one of her animals to call. She also must work to control the ardeur, or let the feeding get out of control.
She finds herself trying to accept the differences inside herself and the lost control whenever she lowers her shields and the Mother Vampire trys to take over her body.
A really great story. Very enjoyable.
