Mia had always been the Marcelli with her heart on her sleeve, eager to love, ready to take on the world. Working as a spy, she met and fell in love with a dangerous man, Diego. She watched as he bled to death, shot. Years later, Diego reappears, but he is not really Diego, or dead, but the Crown Prince Rafael of Calandria and he has come for her and her son.
Rafael has always had the priviledge of having everything he could want. One day, he would be king and everyone must do as he asks. Mia will marry him and then he will take Daniel, his son, to be raised as fitting for a future king in Calandria. Then, Mia would simply be divorced and he would have his heir.
Danny is just a little boy turning four. He knows his mother loves him, and the Marcelli family loves him. He is happy to have a daddy like everyone else. Trying to explain to him what it would mean for his life as a future ruler proved more difficult than Rafael had expected. He came to learn that little boys are real people with real feelings, and he wanted Mia more than he wanted to be king.
A nice story.
