Dani wished her best friend all the happiness she deserved. Having Evie in her life showed her the only joy she could remember in her turbulent childhood. When Evie unexpectedly passes away, she leaves guardianship of her three young children to Dani.
Dani faces the loss of her friend and the disbelief that she would ever be able to be a good mother to the children. She couldn't remember her own mother, and growing up, she had passed thru a number of foster homes. Could she love the kids enough? Could she love at all?
Brad is running from a disastrous engagement and goes to visit his good friend, Tom. Tom is gay, and Dani assumes Brad is as well, but she is drawn to him. With Brad's help, she learns how to relate the the kids, and how to realize she can become the woman she dreams of. Helping her fight for the kids, and learn to enjoy living, Brad opens her up to love, but she doesn't believe herself capable.
A very touching story.
