A wonderful collection of three short stories. A great combination of romance and fantasy.
In "Fire and Ice", Livia seeks a way to escape an unwanted marriage to an elderly man her father has committed her to. Finding Adron in a bar, she is drawn to him, and offers her virginity to him. Adron was an assassin. Severely damaged while saving a pregnant woman, he has lived the last eight years without really living. Livia sees him, not the damage to his body, making him want to live.
In "Knightly Dreams", Taryn wants to escape from the devastation her now es-fiance's cheating has done to her. Seeking a brief respite in a romance novel, the hero comes to life and she falls in love with Sparhawk. Sparhawk does not like the story he had been in, about to marry Alinor, a true harpy that tries to make her own ending to their story, only to be stopped by Taryn.
In "Dragonswan", Sebastian has lived his life in exile, but finally finds his true mate in Channon. Trying to save his brother, even while exiled, he risks himself traveling thru time, coming back with Channon. He does not want to bind her to him until she can understand all the issues involved in that commitment. But Channon loves her Dragon, and wants him forever.
